If you want to find information about someone, one of the best places to start is a Google Search. You can do a Google people search and find background information, phone numbers, addresses, maps and more.
1. Google a name- Make sure to use quotations
You can find a lot of information about someone by simply entering their name in quotation marks. Example: “John Smith”
If the person you are looking for has an unusual name, you don’t necessarily need the quotation marks in order for it to work. For a search like “John Smith”, you will most likely need a little more information to identify them. Try adding things like the city they live in, any clubs or organizations they may be involved in, etc. You can even try performing your people search using different combinations. Try putting all of the words in quotes, trying searching with no quotes, trying some with quotes and some with out, etc.
2. Track someone with a Google News Alert
If you want to stay advised of someone’s doings via the Web, Google news alerts is a good place to start. Note: this will only deliver relevant information if the person you’re looking for is documented on the Web in some way.
Go to www.google.com and click on the “more” link, then go down to “even more”. Alerts should be the first link you see. Follow their steps and you will be notified by email on the topic/person of your choosing.
Using these two tools, you will not only be able to find the people you are searching for, but you will also be updated as new information comes out.
